OK first of all, the name of the pink toad is Toadette. Second of all, David N is wrong. Here’s the real way to unlock Toadette:
1.Select single player mode after you’ve chosen your license, as you can not unlock things on multiplayer mode.
2.Select Time Trials.
3.Select your character, it doesn’t matter who.
4.Play all 32 courses.
That should help.
